Amazing how much fishing changes in a week. Not a bad session on this occasion.
Arrived at the drain about 4 pm, My approach was to be a feeder session during the afternoon and then go after the zeds into the night.
Cast the feeder rod out, and it was fish from the off. Ranging from skimmers, roach and perch. I also hooked into a pike on the feeder rod, which was good fun whilst it lasted. Ended up snapping the line as was too big to fit into the net. Definitely an upper double, as when it surfaced, it’s head was huge and had a very wide back. Gutted I didn’t have one of the pike rods set up as well and my big net. All was not lost though, as landed a lovely perch, and finished off with a nice keep net of skimmers and roach.
Just as it started to get dark, decided to cast out the rods. Couple of missed runs, and no zeds on the bank on this occasion. Still plenty of time though. Will be back!
