Thursday November 12th – Ely Ouse

Have now started the evening sessions after work again, after a quick break due to lack of time.

Started fishing around six. Had a very finicky run on my half a roach, at about seven but missed. Felt it lunge and drop the bait when I picked the rod up. Retrieved my bait, and checked it out. To my horror it was a zander which I missed, as had classic puncture marks in the flank.

Gutted as this was the first zander I had hooked this year after many attempts, and I go and lose it. Was quite for a few hours, then the left hand rod screamed into action. Lovely conditioned pike was on the bank. Only about 8ib, but worth it. Unfortunately didn’t get a photo, as the camera was packed away in the car along with my other stuff. Got the run just before I wound this rod in to head home. Nice evening, and will be back for another go soon.
