Friday March 11th – Grantchester Meadows (River Cam)

Well here we are, my final river session of the season. Back on the cam, but this time visited my favourite stretch. Plenty of bushes and trees to try and lure the chub out. The river wasn’t as bad today, but still wasn’t perfect. I tried various swims but struggled. eventually I found the perfect spot. There was a bush right on a bend, and a hole under the bush. I was able to cast a bait out into the flow which simply washed it under the bush, into the hole and settled. I stayed here all day. Nothing big, but managed to net a few small chub. All on cheese paste.

The fish I had were not massive, but in lovely condition. This is my favourite part of the cam, and brilliant for those early morning sessions. Especially in the summer. However comes to its prime during the winter months.

Well hope everyone had a good season on the rivers and drains.

Will be trying a few still waters when it starts to warm up, then straight back on the rivers and drains June 16th. Cannot wait!
