Drop Shotting for Perch in the Hundred Foot Drain

I am fairly new to this method, and getting more and more into it.

I absolutely love the idea of using a light setup, and flicking a small lure in the depths, and just waiting for that savage pluck of the lure.

When you get that bite, it is such a buzz, the rod just flicks savagely and you can feel every movement on that light braid. When you get that bigger fish, the fight on a small setup, is out of this world.

Any how, as for setup, I use a Korum 8ft twin tip drop shot rod with a tiny Okuma reel. Rigged up with 10ib braid. Not the most expensive setup, but does the job for me.

The twin tip rod comes with a fibreglass quiver style tip and the other tip is carbon.

The fibre glass tip is perfect for the tiniest of dropshot lures, whilst the carbon tip, is more then capable handling the slightly larger dropshot lures out there.

Of course the dropshot method isn’t just for the perch, other predators like pike and zander go for them aswell.

Here are a couple of “micro pike” I caught from the hundred foot last year.

Mean killing machines even at this size!

I know this isn’t the most detailed of blogs, but I am still learning this unique technique.

Tight Lines!
