Sunday 7th December – Land Drain

Been very busy the last few wekends, but managed to squeeze a few hours on a local land drain today.

Arrived about 8 and fished through to about 11. Blanked again.

It probably didn’t help that the drain was quite low and had no flow. Also the weather has changed quite drastically, over the last couple of days, which also doesn’t help.

The good news is the cold weather we have at the moment is here too stay for now, so the pike fishing in the fens could improve, as the water temperatures drop over the next few weeks. Anyway a nice few hours was had, and saw plenty of wildlife on my way to the land drain and when I was fishing.

Barn Owls patrolling the river banks and plenty of whooper swans heading out from the washes, to there feeding grounds.

The fens are a lovely place to be this time of year….

I am hoping to go for an evening session after the zander in the coming week, as the Great Ouse has fined down after the all the rain we have had. There is still a bit of colour in it, but this shouldn’t affect the zander fishing too much.

Also looking forward to another trip in the fens next weekend. So am hoping to catch then. Keep checking the diary to see how I get on.
