Saturday 21st February – Fenland Drain

Visited a very underfished, and difficult to get to fen drain. After a ten minute walk through mud and fields, carting my gear behind me on my faithful trolley I arrived at my first swim. Plenty of fish moving around, but no positive takes. I moved around quite a bit, but nothing. Anyway when the cloud moved in, I had two fish in quick succesion. One weighed 7ib and the other 11ib 8oz. Then it went dead again.

Not the busiest of days, but was a lovely spot. One to watch through the summer months.

The smallest was caught on half  a bluey, and the biggest mackeral tail.

Only a few weeks left of the river season, so best try and make the most of it!

The smallest one. 7ib. Immaculate looking fish.

11ib 8oz. Caught within minutes of the smallest one. Not the best self takes, both fish were slightly awkward!

Both went back fine.
