Sunday 21st February – Marie Curie Pike Match

It was that time of year again, my usual match I have been doing for nearly ten years now on the Great Ouse near Ely. I really enjoy this day, and it means a lot to me.

It was a very hard days fishing. The winds were approaching gale force, and making life extremely difficult. Plenty of pike were being caught, and one of my mates came second. The biggest pike was just over 17ib, and the same angler to catch this, was also lucky enough to get 15ib stunner, soon afterwards. There was also a lone zander caught which was lost at the net. Weight was around 8ib. As you can imagine the angler who caught it was rather upset, as it didn’t qualify, but that’s fishing!

On this occasion, I blanked but it didn’t bother me at all. The total raised was £1,310.

Great day, and will be back again  as usual, next year.
